NWO-WOTRO is currently inviting proposals for its Sexual and Reproductive Health Research (SRHR) Programme with an aim to generate insights in and a better understanding of processes that determine and strengthen the sexual and reproductive health of people, as well as their ability to claim their sexual and reproductive rights.
Objectives
- To gain a better understanding of the socio-cultural and gender-related norms, behaviours and factors contributing to women’s and young people’s reproductive health and rights
- To identify institutional and systemic barriers and enablers to the availability, access and continued utilisation of SRH and quality health and social services for women and young people
- To identify and test successful strategies/best practices for addressing socio-cultural, economic, and institutional barriers to the realisation of sexual and reproductive health for women and young people, with special attention for vulnerable populations
- To translate and facilitate the sharing of the knowledge generated with relevant actors (practitioners/policy makers) to inform SRHR policy and practice in Jordan in order to facilitate research uptake
- To strengthen cooperation between Jordanian researchers and practitioners and international researchers
Funding Information
Research projects can have a duration of 12, 18 or 24 months, with a maximum budget of € 170,000, € 255,000 or € 340,000 respectively.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals with a multi-/inter-disciplinary approach should be submitted by international consortia consisting of at least two partner organisations of whom at least one partner from Jordan. There are two possibilities.
- The preferred consortium composition is:
- A research institution from Jordan and;
- A research institution from across the globe and preferably;
- A practitioner organisation from Jordan, involved in the design and/or implementation of SRHR interventions, policies or applied research in Jordan and that will actively be involved in the project.
- The alternative consortium composition option is:
- A research institution from across the globe (not Jordan) , preferably one from countries in the Middle East and;
- A practitioner organisation from Jordan, involved in the design and/or implementation of SRHR interventions, policies or applied research in Jordan and that will actively be involved in the project.
- The main applicant, or consortium coordinator, and the co-applicant should have a senior position at the consortium member organisations.
- Extending the consortium with other practitioner organisations, including international organisations or private parties, is welcomed.
