Venture Lab has announced the applications for its Open Innovation Challenge to select startup companies (the “Winners”) with a relevant Project which may benefit from a future collaboration and a chance to co- create with NGK.
The Venture Lab is committed to bringing improved healthcare to people worldwide, through leading innovation. Their ambition is to create a new “hospital-at-home model”, staying patient-centric. They are convinced that innovation across the entire healthcare ecosystem holds the key to fully unlock the potential of medical devices and data for improved patient outcomes.
Areas
- Apply to their programme if your solution brings innovation and disruption to one key moment of the patient’s journey at home especially focused on these three areas:
- Respiratory illnesses (improving diagnosis with new devices to monitor patients and treat diseases like asthma, COVID-19 or allergies using CO2/O2 detection, oxygen concentrator, cardiac sensors…)
- Elderly care (focused on software/hardware solutions that address any segment of the elderly patient’s journey, from early disease detection to fall detection or treatment adherence, using sensors, ultrasound technologies…)
- Wound care (non-invasive solutions that help early infection detection or improve the capacity for home treatment)
Note: They are open to other topics regarding home health as long as they remain on the journey of a patient: diagnosis/early disease detection, treatment and monitoring.

Eligibility Criteria
- The Challenge is open to any startup company which demonstrates a high technology focus in relation with NGK’s problematic. This Challenge is only open to legal entities and expressly excludes participation of individuals and consumers.
- An Applicant must be a company / University:
- registered on the trade register of the country in which it has its headquarters and able to provide a registration certificate;
- able to provide evidence of a valid professional insurance policy;
- able to certify that it is in good standing and complies with all laws including the social and tax legislation to which it is subject;
- developing a Project that is within the purpose of the Challenge;
- involving at least two full time individuals at least 18-year-old (whether as shareholders or employees or consultants).
Note: The above-mentioned certificates may be requested from the Applicant by the Organizers at any time after the Preliminary Check.
