The Women’s Fund in Georgia has announced a grant competition for women’s labor rights to support initiatives that serve to empower women, queer and trans people, increase knowledge and advocacy on labor rights, change policies, practices, views and attitudes related to these issues.
The purpose of the competition is also to encourage the joint work of female human rights defenders working on the mentioned topic, to create an informal discussion space and to foster solidarity.
The financial supporter of the project is the “Danish Knowledge Center on Gender and Equality ” (KVINFO).
Preference will be given to initiatives focused on social change in terms of women’s , queer and trans people’s labor rights.
Themes
- Awareness raising: individual labor rights, collective labor relations, solidarity, freedom of association, strike, mediation, etc.
- Creating informal discussion spaces on gender aspects of work for women , queer and trans people to increase their involvement in cities and villages ;
- unpaid labor and care economy ;
- labor issues of those employed in the informal economy;
- increasing awareness of the concept and value of rest ;
- Gender inequality in the labor market – structural causes and policies ; Mechanisms for protection of rights and fight against discrimination ;
- creation of primary trade unions and increasing their visibility through media campaigns ;
- Advocacy for parents of disabled people , single mothers , queer families in support of flexible work schedules ; detection and response to problems in care work
- overcoming gender- based discrimination and stigma at the place of employment ;
- Challenges related to the payment of maternity leave and ways of responding ;
- advocacy of access to employment of ethnic minorities ;
- Support of analytical and investigative journalism on labor rights and safe work ;
- Harassment and sexual harassment at the workplace ;
- Monitoring the implementation of international obligations and standards in local legislation and other initiatives to eliminate existing gaps.
Funding Information
- The maximum grant amount is 52,200 Danish kroner.
- The duration of projects is 6 months.
Who can apply?
- locally registered non-governmental organizations of women , queer and trans people ;
- organizations that work with women , queer and trans people , or labor rights and are led by women ;
- Women’s, queer, and trans organizations with a budget of less than $ 100,000.
