The Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) of the U.S. Department of State announces an opportunity for organizations to submit applications to carry out the Accelerating Women’s Empowerment in Energy (AWEEA) Program by providing a convening forum and workforce development activities to support the empowerment and professional development of women currently working in or seeking work in the clean energy sector in order to overcome historic gender-based marginalization.

Target counties include high-emitting countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The award recipient may also include an additional target high-emitting country and/or countries with significant gender gaps in the sector or where general gender inequality is widespread  for a maximum total of three countries, of which at least one must be in sub-Saharan Africa.  The award recipient will endeavor to include target countries where programming will avoid overlap with other donor-funded gender equity and equality efforts in the energy sector.
