The Toowomba Region is accepting applications for its Oakey Youth Grants Program to deliver positive mental health outcomes for young people in Oakey, they are proud to support community-led projects through an Oakey Youth Grants Program.

Program objectives

To deliver positive mental health outcomes for Oakey’s young people, we have been delivering a number of programs, collectively referred to as the Oakey Youth Project – including engagement, mentoring, skill development and other mental health and social well-being programs. Many of these programs have been designed from the outset to be community-led and build the capacity of both young people and the wider Oakey community. The Oakey Youth Grants Program exists to ‘strengthen the things that remain’. It principally aims to:

Eligible community groups and organizations can seek support to deliver a range of local programs, activities or events that contribute to the mental health of Oakey’s young people.

Grants of up to $5,000 are now available.

Eligible Projects

A wide range of support will be considered on its merits and benefit to Oakey’s young people. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:

Example projects include community events, workshops, or education; complimentary and lifestyle interventions delivered in groups settings (e.g. exercise, relaxation, or mindfulness classes); or up skilling of community members to assist with mental health first aid or suicide awareness, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
