Deadline: 19-Apr-21
The Toowomba Region is accepting applications for its Oakey Youth Grants Program to deliver positive mental health outcomes for young people in Oakey, they are proud to support community-led projects through an Oakey Youth Grants Program.
Program objectives
To deliver positive mental health outcomes for Oakey’s young people, we have been delivering a number of programs, collectively referred to as the Oakey Youth Project – including engagement, mentoring, skill development and other mental health and social well-being programs. Many of these programs have been designed from the outset to be community-led and build the capacity of both young people and the wider Oakey community. The Oakey Youth Grants Program exists to ‘strengthen the things that remain’. It principally aims to:
- Empower community organizations to provide programs, activities and events which support the mental health, resilience and social well-being of young people aged 12–24 who live, work or study in Oakey.
- The program also aims to:
- recognize the contributions young people and community organizations make to the enrichment of the Oakey district
- create opportunities for young people to connect and participate in the community, and support their access to a range of arts, cultural, sporting and active recreation opportunities
- empower young people to take active roles in the development of the community, create platforms for youth mentoring and community connection and foster young people’s knowledge, confidence and skills
- support young people’s improved access to programs and services to meet their social, economic and mental health needs
- foster collaboration between community organizations to deliver positive mental health outcomes for young people
- support equity, diversity and inclusion in partnership with young people from marginalized backgrounds, including young women, young people living with disabilities, LGBTQI+ young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and culturally and linguistically diverse young people
Eligible community groups and organizations can seek support to deliver a range of local programs, activities or events that contribute to the mental health of Oakey’s young people.
