The ACT Government is seeking applications for 2023 ACT Reconciliation Day Grants Program directly aligns with the Core Focus Area of Cultural Integrity from the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement 2019-2028 which aims to support a society that fosters the aspirations of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and contributes to the building of respectful, fair and sustainable communities.
Reconciliation is about building relationships, respect and trust between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Reconciliation is not just about one day each year – rather it is a movement about addressing cultural change, attitudes, and beliefs to raise their community’s understanding of their shared history.
Aims
- The 2023 ACT Reconciliation Day Grants Program (the Program) aims to support community organised events, which are held by individuals or organisations, with a strong focus on Reconciliation, specifically:
- Promoting understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in the wider community;
- Celebrating and raising the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in the wider community;
- Promoting understanding of, and the impact on, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of past policies and historical events;
- Delivering opportunities for children, young people, and elders to be involved and participate in community events that promote Reconciliation; and
- Developing seminars and/or panel discussions on the importance of Reconciliation for all Australians.

Priority Areas
- The following priorities need to be addressed through the proposed project/activity:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals;
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Controlled organisations; and
- The ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement 2019-2028 Core and Significant Areas.
Funding Information
- The total funding available for this program is $50,000 (GST inclusive).
- The maximum grant that can be applied for is $5,000 (GST inclusive).
- This value is as a contribution toward one project or initiative only and is non-recurring.
- Successful recipients must spend the grant within 12 months of receiving the grant.
Eligibility Criteria
- Previous recipients and outstanding acquittals
- To be considered, applicants must have no overdue Acquittal Reports for any previous CSD grant.
- Eligibility of organizations
- Organisations that want to apply must:
- Be a legally incorporated entity or supported by an incorporated auspicing organisation.
- Be a registered not-for-profit or a charitable organisation.
- Hold appropriate insurance cover for the grant period. Insurances that may be required include Public Liability Insurance of no less than $10 million dollars, Personal Accident, Volunteer Cover or Directors Professional Indemnity. Evidence of insurance may be required as a condition of the grant.
- All outstanding Acquittals must be accepted by CSD before submitting an application.
- Unincorporated community groups may apply through an auspicing organisation.
