Green Adelaide is launching its annual Grassroots Grant Program to support individuals, volunteers and community groups and other bodies to deliver local projects that contribute to improved management of the metropolitan Adelaide environment.
The Grassroots Grants Program is an opportunity for Green Adelaide to partner with individuals, communities and volunteers to work together and create a cooler, greener, wilder and climate resilient city.
Priorities
- Coastal management
- Focus Areas: Conserve and restore coastal and marine habitats and biodiversity
- Project examples:
- Weed control project along coastal dunes
- Sand dune and coast rehabilitation
- Educating community about marine biodiversity
- Water resources and wetlands
- Focus Areas: Enhance, and restore water resources and water-dependent ecosystems through on-ground delivery
- Project examples:
- Rain gardens
- Planting along water courses
- Restoring permeability to hard-surfaces
- Nature trails
- Green streets and flourishing parklands
- Focus Areas: Increase greening of streetscapes and public spaces
- Greening verges, parks and reserves
- Focus Areas: Increase greening of streetscapes and public spaces
- Fauna, flora and ecosystem health in the urban environment
- Focus Areas: Conserve, restore and expand habitats for native flora and fauna
- Improving habitat for threatened fauna species
- Securing threatened flora populations
- Citizen science
- Focus Areas: Conserve, restore and expand habitats for native flora and fauna
Funding Information
- The total value of the Grassroots Grants Program for Green Adelaide in 2023-24 is $1m, with grants between $2,000 and $150,000 available per application.
- Amount: $2,000 to $10,000
- Duration: Up to 12 months
- Must include:
- photographs and/or videos of activities and outcomes (e.g. before, progress and after photos)
- completion of other agreed monitoring and reporting requirements as per grant agreement
- final financial acquittal
- Amount: $10,000 to $50,000
- Duration: Up to 18 months
- Must include:
- photographs and/or videos of activities and outcomes (e.g. before, progress and after photos)
- end of financial year acquittal
- final financial acquittal
- completion of other agreed monitoring and reporting requirements as per grant agreement
- Amount: $50,000-$150,000
- Duration: Up to 24 months
- Must include:
- photographs and/or videos of activities and outcomes (e.g. before, progress and after photos)
- financial reporting against agreed budget
- final financial acquittal
- completion of other agreed monitoring and reporting requirements as per grant agreement
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for a grant you must be a legal entity or sponsored by a legal entity. The project must be within the Green Adelaide region and undertaken on a not-for-profit basis.
- Eligible entities include:
- an incorporated community group or organization (or a non-incorporated group with a sponsor)
- an individual or partnership
- a non-government organisation
- a school, university or other educational entity (may require a sponsor)
- an incorporated Aboriginal organization (or a non-incorporated group with a sponsor)
