The NSW Government is inviting applications for SPA Practitioner Program, a competitive and putting together a strong application takes time and energy.
The program commences in January 2023 and is open to state and federal screen agencies plus industry partners. These organisations can nominate individual producer practitioners from priority areas to run through the program. Whilst the national program is offered for both early career and midcareer practitioners to help them further their capabilities and progress their careers, businesses, and development slates, in NSW this year, it is targeted at mid-career practitioners.
The SPA Practitioner Program will boost the development of screen content producers’ careers through training and professional development opportunities, and it will also create and build community and networking opportunities within the industry over a targeted 12- month period.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Program will start in January 2023.
- Screen NSW is seeking applications from mid-career producers, including those who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or from under-represented groups including people from CaLD backgrounds, people with disability, people from western Sydney and people from regional NSW. Priority will be given to producers from these underrepresented groups. Applicants must be:
- A NSW resident: NSW resident refers to a person residing in NSW for at least six months prior to making an application.
- Available to travel to the Gold Coast to attend Screen Forever – 3-5 May 2023. Successful applicants can apply for bursaries through Screen NSW.
- A mid-career producer and have a combination of two or more of the following:
- Ability to qualify as a full member of SPA: 30+ mins broadcast (inc. online) and/or 50+ mins theatrical release full producer credits
- 5 to 10 producer credits on commercially released screen productions, – including short films, online and immersive media production that have been screened at domestic and internationally recognised festivals and/or available for public consumption. Full producer credits as listed on IMDB or alternative credit recognition in the public domain.
- Generally,5 or more years’ experience in professional film and TV production, as a producer
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to career progression as a producer
