Australian High Commission in Ghana is seeking applications for its Direct Aid Program 2018 which is a small grants program funded from the Australian Government’s aid budget.
Through the Direct Aid Program, the Australian High Commission in Ghana is able to support many life-transforming intervention projects for some of society’s most vulnerable people – notably persons with disabilities, women and children.
Funding Information
- Projects must be between AUD20, 000 – AUD60, 000.
- Projects cannot receive more than AUD60, 000 over the life of the project.
- Activities can run up to a maximum of two years.
Eligible Sectors
In 2018-19, the Direct Aid Program will priorities projects which:
- Improve sanitation and waste services and facilities
- Improve facilities for people with a disability or mental illness
- Promote gender equality and empowering women and girls
- Strengthen accountability, transparency and good governance, particularly within the extractives sector
All projects should show due consideration to gender and disability inclusion in their design and implementation, by ensuring women and people living with disabilities are consulted and included in the development of project proposals as well as in their implementation.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organisations eligible for DAP funding are: community groups, local or international NGOs, academic institutions, research bodies, local government agencies or other organisations engaged in development activities on a not-for-profit basis.
- Applications can be submitted for projects in the High Commission’s nine countries of accreditation: Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
- Applications may be submitted by individuals or businesses on behalf of an NGO or other implementing organisation as part of a partnership. In this case, the applying organisation must take responsibility for the management and acquittal of DAP funds. The implementing organisation must be involved in preparing the application, and be contactable to verify that the funds are being applied for on their behalf. Applications from individuals and businesses that do not involve an organisation with experience in project implementation are unlikely to be supported.
