The Yolo Community Foundation (YCF) is now accepting applications for the fourth and final round of funding for its Buck Education Grant Program.
This year, the grant will fund efforts to address equity in education in light of distance learning and to support most vulnerable groups to access education during this difficult time.
An affiliate of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation (the Foundation), the mission of YCF is to inspire and support giving and to provide philanthropic leadership in Yolo County.
Funding Information
- Grant requests of any amount up to $10,000 will be considered.
Types of Funding
- The Buck Education Grants will fund projects and activities within the field of early childhood and K-12 education in Yolo County that focus on supporting those children that are most likely to fall behind during distance learning.
- Applications should focus on meeting the needs of children who are English language learners (or where the adult supporting distance learning is not proficient in English), children from low-income families, and/or children with special needs that will impact their learning during distance learning.
- Please note that they recognize that barriers such as language differences, mental health, social & emotional challenges, safety issues, etc. are all barriers to learning under current circumstances. Programs may address those issues, in addition to or instead of direct academic support.
Funding is for projects taking place during the 2020-21 school year.
The Foundation will not accept proposals for:
- Annual appeals
- Capital campaigns
- Funding for individuals
- Sponsorships
- Scholarships
Eligibility Criteria
Applicant organizations must:
- Maintain tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or be fiscally-sponsored by an organization that meets this requirement
- Work in Yolo County in the field of early childhood and/or K-12 education
- Have a current profile on the region’s nonprofit database, GivingEdge, or agree to submit a profile as a grantee (applicants may still apply for funding without a profile; grantee profiles must be complete and submitted prior to the first progress report deadline).
Selection Criteria
Proposals will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
- Proposal Request/Program Description:
- Serves a high-need population
- Incorporates clear and measurable project objectives and activities
- Possesses a strategy for measuring outcomes and benchmarks for achieving objectives
- Organization is well-equipped to carry out the project effectively; project is in line with the mission of your organization
- Includes a detailed budget that reflects the project in a realistic and fiscally judicious manner
- Centers the needs of children who are English language learners (or where the adult supporting distance learning is not proficient in English), children from low-income families, and/or children with special needs that will impact their learning during distance learning.
