The Global Fund for Children is excited to launch the first round of Southeast Asia Spark Fund for organizations in Thailand.
They are looking for applications from youth-led groups or organizations in Thailand that work towards climate change and related environmental challenges.
This innovative fund puts key decisions in the hands of youth and provides young leaders and their groups or organizations with flexible funding and capacity development.
Spark Fund offers flexible funding, which means grants can be spent on whatever the organization/group needs. This may include, but is not exclusive to:
- Project and program expenses
- Day-to-day running costs
- Salaries or compensation
- Organizational development costs.
The aim of the fund is to support youth-led organizations or groups in their:
- Youth capacity building
- They want youth to amplify their impact through knowledge and skills training.
- Community building
- They recognize the importance of community building as key to community mobilization for beneficial environmental outcomes.
- Journey to accelerate climate-environmental nature action.
Funding Information
- The SEA Spark Fund will distribute annual grants between $5,000 – 15,000 USD over two years.
- The grant will be paid in two annual installments – in Spring 2024 and 2025.
- They anticipate to fund around 5 to 8 organizations or groups across Thailand in this funding round.
Eligibility Criteria
- For round one of SEA Spark Fund, their youth panel are looking for applicants that demonstrate a commitment to youth-led initiatives within Thailand. They support groups or organizations that:
- Are youth-led, where the leadership of organizations or groups are young people aged under 35.
- Are focused on creating positive change for children or young people in their community.
- Have a focus on community-led initiatives that address local environmental challenges. E.g., activities that address the damaging effects of climate change.
- Are non-profit organizations or groups, including social enterprises.
- Are registered or unregistered, including informally structured groups.
- Have a yearly organizational/group budget of less than $28,000 USD. In addition to meeting the criteria above, their youth panel will prioritize applications from groups or organizations that also:
- Lack access to institutional support (funding, formal nonprofit registration, etc.)
- Are located in rural areas
- Work with low-income communities
- Work with marginalized groups
- Work with neurodivergent communities.
Ineligible
- SEA Spark Fund does not support:
- Individuals
- Local offices, affiliates, or projects of large NGOs, INGOs, governments, or intergovernmental organizations
- Affiliates of or projects of government agencies, schools or universities, or for-profit businesses
- Efforts to support or oppose candidates for public office.
- Evangelism or proselytizing, or programs that require adherence to or conversion to religious doctrine.
- Groups that, in policy or in practice, discriminate based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation.
- Groups that conduct or support violent activities or violate criminal law.
