The Future Generation Australia is a dual-purpose investment vehicle, which provides both financial and social returns, with a focus on Australian children and youth at risk.
Through these partnerships they will provide multi-year untied funding and additional capacity building support. They will work with partners to track outcomes, learnings and share these insights widely.
They are looking to invest in organisations supporting children facing adversity to flourish through the development of healthy relationships, resilience and a positive sense of self.
As a community of investment managers, they identify under-valued companies and invest to realize growth. Bringing this approach to their social investment, they will back high potential non-profits and invest in them to realize impact and organisational growth.
Funding Information
- They estimate each partner would receive between $180,000 and $350,000 in 2025, as the first year of four years of support. They will aim to be no more than 25% of the organisation’s annual income — which may mean donations are capped under this amount for smaller organisations.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organisations supporting children facing adversity to thrive through the development of healthy relationships, resilience and a positive sense of self. They seek partners who are accountable to the children (and families) they work with and whose ways of working are guided by their experiences and views.
- The scope of their investment will include ‘Selective’ work — with priority cohorts at greater risk of childhood adversity ‘Indicated’ work — with children and families experiencing adversity and trauma and ‘Systems’ work — advocacy and capacity building work geared towards systemic improvement and better outcomes for future generations.
- They acknowledge there are cultural differences and approaches in this work and the best outcomes for Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander children and families are fostered through Aboriginal owned organisations, or organisations with empowered Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people and teams. They encourage applications from Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) and those working on integrated cross-sector approaches.
- They are looking to support children aged 0 to 14 years and their parents/carers from priority populations that are at greater risk of facing adversities, including:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Young parents
- Children in Out of Home Care
- Low-income families
- Mothers and girls
- Children with disability
- Children who are homeless
- Children impacted by familial factors such as family and domestic violence, incarceration, mental illness, drug use or death
- The rationale is to include key developmental phases and transitions — early childhood, to primary and high school. They will be particularly looking for opportunities to support mid-primary to early high school aged children (8-14 yrs) who have traditionally received less focus than early childhood and adolescence.
