The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has announced a Call for Partnerships for implementation of a project entitle “Educate A Child Initiative- Improving access to quality and inclusive education with gender equality for out-of-school children in Iraq“.
Educate A Child Initiative Phase II – ‘Improving access to quality and inclusive education with gender equality for out-of-school children in Iraq’ aims to target 150,000 Out of School Children (OOSC) including IDPs and returnee children in six governorates with high number of OOSC (Baghdad, Erbil, Babil, Thi Qar, Salah Al Din and Ninewa) to be integrated into the educational system in the three year project timeframe which ends in September 2021. Its actual implementation has started from the academic year 2018/2019.
The main purpose of the project is to accelerate the achievement of universal access to primary education, by considerably lowering the number of OOSC and re-integrate them into the formal education system in Iraq.
Objectives
- Objective 1: Improve safe and child friendly learning space
- Objective 2: Increase primary school enrolment by registering 150,000 OOSC
- Objective 3: Enhance national capacity to provide quality primary education
Funding Information
- The overall estimated budget for the first 5 months of the project implementation for six (06) governorates is approximately 1 million USD and the additional 4 months is 500,000 USD (extendable based on outstanding performance and availability of budget).
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant shall be a not-for-profit entity endowed under their national law and active for at least two years, including but not limited to: non-governmental organizations (NGOs), research institutes, universities, foundations, professional associations and intergovernmental organizations.
- Legally authorized to implement education projects in Iraq.
- Not blacklisted or ineligible due to the reasons specified under the criteria on the right.
- Valid bank account in the name of NGO.
- Technical expertise in education implementation.
- Experience and offices in the geographical location.
- Working relationships with a donor or project owner and History of similar assignment.
- Capacity to work in English.
- Financial capacity.
- Financial and accounting system meeting international standards.
- Procurement system requirement meeting international standards.
