The UN Women Multi-Country Office (MCO) the Caribbean under Pillar 6 of the Spotlight Initiative Guyana Project, is seeking to partner with Civil Society Organization (s) to engage with stakeholders in providing mentoring and support on new forms of social activism and messaging on Family Violence and to establish a CSO network for social justice activism to promote demand-driven quality service access and delivery.
The overall goal of the Spotlight Initiative in Guyana is to reduce Family Violence by addressing the root causes of violence against women and girls (VAWG) with an emphasis on prevention.
Pillars
The key pillars of the Spotlight Initiative Project include:
- Pillar 1: Laws and Policies
- Pillar 2: Institutional Capacities
- Pillar 3: Social Norms and Behaviors
- Pillar 4: Essential Services
- Pillar 5: Data Availability and Utilization
- Pillar 6: Women’s Rights Groups, Autonomous Social Movements and Civil Society Organizations
Project Activities
The resources being made available under the Spotlight Project for CSOs are as follows:
- Activity 6.1.1: Build capacity of CSOs for stronger and more direct advocacy and media engagement on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls by enhancing knowledge management capacities (e.g. tracking good practices) focusing on “radical listening sessions” with those groups that are most marginalized and leveraging their experiences for targeted messaging on Intimate Partner Violence, Sexual and Gender Based Violence and School-Related Gender Based Violence (SRGBV) (1 CSO Grant: USD31,956 equivalent).
- Activity 6.3.1: Establish a CSO network for social justice activism to promote demand-driven quality service access and delivery (2 CSOs Grants: US 25,000 equivalent each). The two CSOs selected will be required to work in partnership.
Eligibility Criteria
Technical/functional competencies required:
- Implementing Partners must be a Registered Non-Governmental Organization.
- At least 3 years’ experience implementing initiatives on gender equality and women’s rights, including the elimination of violence against women.
- At least 3 years’ experience producing knowledge products and research on violence against women.
- At least 3 years’ experience in the development and delivery of various types of trainings and capacity building programmes
- At least 3 years’ experience working in Guyana.
