Call for Proposals for Open Window Program

UNDP is calling for proposals for GEF Small Grants Programme to provide non-governmental and community-based organizations (NGOs/CBOs) with grants to enable them to tackle global environmental challenges while addressing local sustainable development needs.

SGP is a GEF corporate programme, implemented by UNDP and executed by UNOPS. SGP Suriname started financing projects in 1997. Since then, it has succeeded in funding and providing technical support for more than 100 grant projects.

The 7 th Operational Phase (OP7) which will be under implementation during 2021 to 2024, GEF SGP has the following aims: “to promote and support innovative, inclusive and scalable initiatives, and foster multi stakeholder partnerships at the local level to tackle global environmental issues in priority landscapes and seascapes”.

The SGP country programme is highly relevant to the international commitment of the Government of Suriname on environmental management and sustainable development. Although Suriname has not yet ratified some of the below listed international conventions, the Government of Suriname makes efforts to develop and implement policy, regulations, protocols, guidelines, technology and practices that support the achievement of the global environmental benefits/goals.
