The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office in Bangkok, with support from the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) and the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding under the auspices of UNESCO (APCEIU), is seeking a contractor to organize activities under the project “Bringing Living Heritage to Classroom in Asia-Pacific” which will strengthen capacities of teachers, policymakers and other educational/cultural stakeholders in Thailand and Lao PDR to support the integration of ICH in schools.
UNESCO and partners aim to adapt these resource materials and guidelines to strengthen the integration of ICH in schools in Asia-Pacific region; develop capacities of teachers and other educational/cultural stakeholders in selected Asia-Pacific countries (i.e. Thailand and Lao PDR) and broadly disseminate a wide selection of good ICH-linked educational practices and lesson plans.
The contractor is requested to carry out the following tasks:
- Identify and handle fee for experts and support staff for the 5-day Workshop for Teachers on Bringing Living Heritage to the Classroom, tentatively in April-July 2023;
- Identify up to 50 participants, who can consist of teachers from Lao PDR and/or Thailand, particularly Northeastern Thailand.
- Develop and disseminate PR materials, including broadcasting of activities and proceedings through social media outlets of the contractor and partnering organizations;
Duration: 1 March 2023 – 31 August 2023, tentatively.
Duty station: Bangkok or Northeastern Thailand (any province).
Eligibility Criteria
- Required qualification, experience and competencies
- Over 5 years of professional experience in providing trainings for teachers in Thailand and/or Lao PDR;
- Have a roster of allied professionals in fields related to global citizenship and urban citizenship education and living heritage in education, who can be called upon to lead the planned activities.
- Desirable qualification, experience and competencies
- Long-term experience in lesson plan development for primary and/or secondary education;
- Familiarity with UNESCO’s work related to the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage;
- Familiarity with the concept and principles in achieving sustainable development goals, especially in aspects of education, equality, sustainable cities and communities, decent works and economic growth.
