The European Commission through its Representation in Romania, has launched a call for proposals to select partners to manage EUROPE DIRECT information centers in the period 2021-2025.
EUROPE DIRECT centers maintain a proactive and constant dialogue with citizens, in order to encourage their participation in the European project. By organizing information and involvement activities, EUROPE DIRECT enables citizens to make informed decisions about the future of the EU, participating fully in the European democratic process.
By cultivating a better understanding of how the EU works and parliamentary democracy, as well as an understanding of the issues that fall under the responsibility of the EU, EUROPE DIRECT raises awareness of the benefits that the EU brings to them every day, while emphasizing the value of was added.
EUROPE DIRECT helps to identify EU policy issues that are important at local level and can guide messages and activities to meet local needs. Through information and citizen involvement activities, EUROPE DIRECT helps to prepare the ground for the strategic political priorities of the Commission and Parliament.
Also, EUROPE DIRECT take into account citizens’ expectations and provide feedback to the EU institutions.
EUROPE DIRECT works closely with the Representations of the Commission and the Liaison Offices of the European Parliament (hereinafter referred to as “EPLO”) in those Member States. The centers also pursue cooperation with other information networks and contact points in the EU or at local level and promote exchanges and coordination between them.
Five Main Tasks
- Task no 1: Informing and involving citizens
- Task no 2: Relations with the media and local multipliers
- Task no 3: Local information on sensitive EU issues
- Task no 4: The EU in schools
- Task no 5: Promoting a regional networking platform
Funding Information
- The total budget allocated to the co-financing of projects on the basis of this call for proposals for the first year of implementation (2021) is EUR 563,208.
- The value of each annual grant for the years 2022-2025 will be EUR 30,400.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals may be submitted by any of the following applicants:
- public bodies, such as a municipality or other body local / regional authorities, or
- private law organization with a public mission
- federations / associations of local authorities, non-profit organizations, social partners, educational or training organizations.
- Individuals are not eligible.
Requirements
- All EUROPE DIRECT centers must have:
- a recognizable space (hereinafter referred to as “the headquarters EUROPE DIRECT ”), with a plate 14 fixed on the main façade, at level to display as clearly as possible the name EUROPE DIRECT , the program work and / or scheduling possibilities and phone number;
- a telephone number and an email address;
- online presence.
- All EUROPE DIRECT centers must:
- to support the communication and involvement activities organized by Commission representation and EPLO, including community development together.eu;
- to respond to individual requests for meetings;
- answer questions or direct citizens to the EU network; or the corresponding Europe Direct contact center to constantly interact with the public, through social platforms;
- distribute EU publications / information / videos / messages;
- use an opinion poll tool to be provided by Commission to evaluate the activities of EUROPE DIRECT ;
- to provide monthly reports in English on the activities EUROPE DIRECT through an online reporting tool made available by the Commission.
