The U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka is inviting qualified organizations or individuals to submit proposals to implement innovative projects under the Small and Mighty Grants Program 2023/2024.
Categories
- This program acknowledges the transformative potential of small and innovative projects in advancing sustainable development and promoting democratic values, with a specific focus on one of the following categories:
- Category 1: Programs Promoting Peace, Democracy, and Human Rights
- They encourage programs that promote peace, democracy, reconciliation, and human rights, fostering social integration within all communities in Sri Lanka. Additionally, they welcome initiatives that strengthen democratic values, enhance awareness and protection of religious freedom, gender equality and disability rights, and human rights principles.
- Category 2: Programs Promoting Economic Empowerment
- They encourage programs promoting economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, especially for women and minorities, as a component of a healthy economy and a means to integrate into the regional economy.
- Category 3: Programs Promoting Good Governance and the Rule of Law
- They encourage programs promoting good governance and rule of law, such as transparency, right to information, and anti-corruption.
- Category 4: Programs Promoting the Professional Capacity and Accuracy of Sri Lanka’s Media Sector
- They encourage projects that enhance professionalism within the media sector and promote verified, responsible, fact-based and unbiased media coverage.
- Category 1: Programs Promoting Peace, Democracy, and Human Rights
Funding Information
- US$ 5,000 – US$ 15,000
Time Limit
- The Small and Mighty Grants Program for 2023/2024 will be open for a period of twelve months from October 1, 2023, to August 30, 2024.
- Individual projects should have a total timeline of four to six months.
- They will carry out three rounds of calls for proposals throughout the calendar year.
Eligibility Criteria
- This grant is open to participation from non-profit organizations, non-governmental entities, and individual applicants throughout Sri Lanka.
- Government entities and for-profit companies are not eligible to apply for grants.
