The Save the Children Kenya is seeking partners to collaborate on impactful initiatives that address pressing issues affecting children and communities.
Thematic Areas
- Health, Nutrition, and Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
- Subthemes – Reproductive, Maternal, and Newborn Health Child Health, Water, Sanitataion & Hygiene, Nutrition, Adolescents’ reproductive health and rights
- General Requirements
- With Over 5 Years of experience in implementing Health, Nutrition & WASH sectors interventions in collaboration and/or co-operation with INGO, UN agencies and other humanitarian and development actors.
- Demonstrate Level of engagement with National Ministry of Health at various levels including technical working groups of focus
- Subtheme Specific Requirements
- Maternal Newborn Child Health
- Demonstrate experience in maternal newborn child health work at community health Unit and Health Facility levels (Hubs-spokes)
- Experience engaging in advocacy work for Maternal Newborn and Child health at National or County level.
- Demonstrate capacity to technically support Ministry of health at National and county in matters related to MNCH.
- WASH
- Experience in both humanitarian and developmental WASH, in fragile and non-fragile context
- In depth knowledge on government regulations on WASH sector and actively participating in ministry of water led WASH sector coordination and TWGs meetings
- An overall understanding of WASH and Public health sector policies and systems.
- Gender & Inclusion
- Sufficient experience in implementing projects/programmes focused on Gender Equality – Specifically Gender Transformative Approaches, GBV, inclusion and disability
- Demonstrate capacity in working with people with disabilities (a broad spectrum) especially children in different sectors (education, health, nutrition etc.)
- Experience working with caregivers of people with disabilities.
- Child Protection
- General Child protection or different thematic areas such as child labour, alternative care, refugee programming, ending violence against children, protection of children from digital harm.
- Case management (Child protection/GBV)
- Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS)
- Child protection systems
- Child poverty
- Partner/s should have good linkages and relationships with government and non-government institutions focusing on vocational training and employment promotion, Climate change, social protection, business development services, savings and credit facilities, understanding of the market systems.
- Have demonstrated experience and sustainable results in training and employment promotion for disadvantaged groups with practical experience in market-oriented skills training and employment, micro- and small-enterprise development or income generating programs.
- Demonstrate value add – expertise on the target groups (women, youth) highlighting experience in gender-inclusiveness.
- Education
- Partners implementing projects on ECD, Basic education and Public Investment in Children
- Partners with experience working in ASAL areas, refugee camps and informal settlements on refugee education with a focus on access, quality, Teaching and Learning, Teacher Professional Development, digital learning, school health and nutrition, WASH in schools.
- Partners with experience on education research with a focus on tracking learning outcomes
- Partners with experience on advocacy, policy and legislative influence in education including education financing.
- Experience working with the Ministry of education, its agencies and other relevant government line ministries.
- Partners implementing Education in emergencies interventions in ASAL areas, refugee camps and informal settlements.
- Technology for Development
- Commitment to child safeguarding, ensuring that their technology solutions adhere to the highest standards of protecting children from harm. This includes robust measures for data privacy and protection.
- Prioritize child-centric design principles in their projects. Solutions should take into account the unique needs, vulnerabilities, and rights of children in the local context.
- Capacity to deploy technology solutions rapidly in times of crisis or emergencies. This includes ensuring the resilience and adaptability of technology interventions to meet the evolving needs of children during challenging situations.
- Maternal Newborn Child Health
Criteria
- Type of partner – A local NGO/civil society organisation, agency/network, academic institute, association or private sector partner. For a strategic partnership national and/or county government.
- Programme focus areas – Should contribute to the 2030 ambition to create a world in which all children:
- Survive: No child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday
- Learn: All children benefit from a quality basic education
- Protected: Violence against children is no longer tolerated
- Partners working in different focus areas that complement or add value to the focus areas are also eligible.
- Access – Partners that have strong access to geographies, communities, and local government where Save the Children has operational presence i.e. Garissa, Wajir, Turkana, Mandera, Dadaab.
- Relationship with development partners – Partners who have strong relationships and received funding from a diverse range of donors that are of interest to Save the Children.
- Relationship with partners – Partners who have strong relationships and partnerships with a diverse range of institutions that are of interest to Save the Children.
- Legitimacy and reputation – Partners that are well regarded amongst other actors and have strong commitment to accountability.
- Capacity – Partners who have good capacities in areas where Save the Children seeks more expertise and positioning. Potential to also work at scale and secure sustainability.
- Innovation – Partners with opportunities for creativity and innovation e.g. testing new approaches.
- Humanitarian strategy/response – Partners who have articulated humanitarian ambition in their strategic plan or/and have experience in emergency response programming.
