The End Climate Change, Start Climate of Change project is co-funded by the European Commission under the DEAR (Development Education and Awareness Raising) programme and aims to develop awareness and critical understanding among young EU citizens of climate change-induced migration as one of the greatest challenges of the globalised world.
The main objective of the project is to build a better future for migrants leaving their lands because of climate change, the human face of climate change, and for young people who will face the worst effects of the climate crisis. Through the engagement of young people in Europe, the project highlights the interdependencies between local and global inequalities and empowers them not only to change their daily lives, but also to become advocates for global justice issues
Objectives
- The overall objective of this call for proposals is to involve youth associations and civil society organisations in raising awareness on the issue of climate change and climate-induced migration around the world.
- The specific objective of the Call for Proposals is to help achieve a pan-European impact of the project by involving small youth organisations interested in supporting the project but lacking the means to do so.
- The proposal should promote the action of young people in France on climate change and migration; the implementation of a shared action to raise young people’s awareness of this issue. Beneficiaries of the grant will be required to include in their actions the following:
- Promotion of the Climate Change petition online and at events.
- Promotion of the #ClimateOfChange campaign through social media.
Funding Information
- The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 21,000. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall within the amount of EUR 3500.
- Duration: Grant recipients will sign a partnership agreement with the ALDA. The implementation phase will run from 19 October 2022 to 28 February 2023 for all activities, except for the promotion of the petition, which will end on October 25, 2022.
Beneficiaries of Activities
- The activities funded must directly involve and target young people between the ages of 16 and 35. Each action must have 2 target types:
- Direct beneficiaries: individuals who are directly involved and/or affected by the action, including those who have played an active role and those who have been personally exposed to the action (e.g. students who see a street painting, workshop participants, etc.). Direct beneficiaries must be directly involved in the activities of the project and their involvement must be measurable and demonstrable. Each subsidised organisation must reach a minimum of 70 young people through its actions.
- Indirect beneficiaries: people who are not directly related to the project activities but who could potentially benefit from the project through the transfer of knowledge from the direct beneficiaries (friends, family members, colleagues) or through articles, social media messages, videos, photos, etc.
Eligible Activities
- Different types of activities may be eligible (non-exhaustive list):
- Communication activities: development of video content, animations, infographics, visual tools, virtual reality software (etc.).
- Promotion and dissemination activities: Development of project values and campaign content by a blogger/vlogger, activities aimed at informing and promoting digital social activism (etc.).
- Awareness-raising activities: organisation of street actions such as flash mobs, guerrilla marketing initiatives, interactive exhibitions, arts activities at festivals and concerts, art installations, performances or workshops focusing on informal learning settings (etc.).
- Training and learning by doing activities: work camps, volunteer activities, training courses, workshops, public events, thematic tours, webinars and digital workshops (etc.).
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for the sub-grant, the applicant must be a Youth and a small civil society organisation (CSO) established and operating in France. Applicants must be:
- Legal entities (a local civil society organization or association)
- Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the partners and not be limited to an intermediary role.
- Have at least two years of legal existence.
- Youth and small civil society organisations that have not received any financial contribution (direct or indirect) from the Climate of Change project.
- Be established in France.
Ineligible
- The following types of actions are ineligible:
- Actions relating solely or principally to individual sponsorship for participation in workshops, seminars, conferences and congresses.
- Actions relating solely or principally to individual study or training grants.
- Support for political parties.
- Actions aimed at raising funds or promoting the visibility of the applicant or his/her partner (s).
- Actions consisting mainly of research or studies.
- Actions which consist exclusively or mainly of capital expenditure, e.g. land, buildings, equipment and vehicles, except in special circumstances.
- Discrimination against persons or groups of persons on the grounds of their sex, sexual orientation, religious or non-religious beliefs, or ethnic origin.
- Actions including proselytism.
- Basic funding of the applicant or (if applicable) its partners.
