The Centers for Disease Control has announced the applications for Strategic Planning in South America to support the mission and goals of CDC’s global health regionalization strategy and advance global health security.

To date, CDC has launched four regional platforms: South America, based in Brasilia, Brazil; Eastern Europe/Central Asia, based in Tbilisi, Georgia; Middle East/North Africa, based in Muscat, Oman, and Southeast Asia, based in Hanoi, Vietnam. This funding opportunity is specific to the South America Region and includes the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Purposes

This NOFO supports the mission and goals of CDC’s global regionalization strategy through support for complex high-level regional strategic planning processes. This funding opportunity will support this objective by working across countries in the region to improve capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to public health threats. Strategic planning across countries will identify gaps and opportunities to improve public health throughout the region, including in the areas of surveillance and reporting, workforce development, lab science, and emergency and outbreak response.
