CFPs: Chemoprevention of Seasonal Malaria in the Health Regions (Guinea-Bissau)

Malaria

Deadline: 01-Jul-2025

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has launched the call for proposals for the Chemoprevention of Seasonal Malaria in the Health Regions to maintain therapeutic levels of these drugs in the blood throughout the four most critical months, significantly reducing the risk of infection.

The QPS aims to pre-emptively administer antimalarial drugs to healthy children during the period of peak transmission, to reduce the incidence of cases and hospitalizations due to malaria.

This approach has demonstrated high efficacy in preventing malaria in similar contexts in West and Sub-Saharan Africa. The effectiveness of the intervention depends not only on the availability and correct administration of drugs, but also on community mobilization, effective communication with caregivers and active engagement of families. Therefore, joint action with CSOs is considered strategic for the success of the campaign. This justifies the partnership that is intended to be established.
