The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is soliciting proposals for restoration activities in the Klamath Basin of Southern Oregon and Northern California.
Proposals must demonstrate how the proposed restoration will improve conditions and achieve habitat restoration for waterfowl and/or native fish and wildlife species, and other aquatic species throughout the Klamath Basin.
Klamath Basin stakeholders have a long history of working together on restoration activities and have also undertaken the enormous challenge of resolving major natural resource conflicts in the Klamath Basin.
Priorities
- Aquatic habitat restoration projects to improve conditions for native fish and other aquatic species.
- Project proposals must document how the proposed project will improve habitat for target species.
- Projects that result in improved conditions for waterfowl and/or other native wildlife in the Klamath Basin.
- Project proposals must document how the proposed project will improve habitat for waterfowl and/or other native wildlife species and their habitat.
- Water quality improvement projects throughout the Klamath Basin.
- Project proposals must document how the proposed project will result in improvements to water quality, including how water quality improvements will be measured.
- Klamath River science and data collection to inform future restoration actions and management considerations.
- Project proposals must clearly describe the significance of the proposed science and data collection activities and, specifically, how it will advance the restoration of native fish and wildlife species in the Klamath Basin.
- Effectiveness monitoring to inform adaptive management processes.
- Project proposals must clearly describe the significance of the proposed monitoring activities, and how they will advance the restoration of native fish and/or waterfowl and other wildlife species in the Klamath Basin.
- Voluntary restoration of fish, waterfowl, and another native widlife habitat on private lands in the Klamath Basin.
- Project proposals must document how the proposed project will improve habitat for target species.
- Securing water for the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
- Project proposals must document how the proposed project will improve conditions for the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
- Securing water for other prominent areas and sub-basins throughout the Klamath River drainage.
- Project proposals must document how the proposed project will improve conditions for the target species.
- Climate adaptation strategies that result in improved conditions for native fish and wildlife species in the Klamath Basin.
- Project proposals must document how specific climate adaptation strategies will result in improved conditions for Klamath Basin fish, waterfowl and wildlife
