Are you a civil society organisation? Are you engaged in social impact actions in the townships? Are you duly registered in South Africa? If yes, then join the new Local Initiatives Fund – South Africa (LIFSA) and apply to finance your project.
The “Local Initiatives Fund” call for proposals in South Africa (LIFSA) is an initiative of the Government of the Principality of Monaco in partnership with the Alliance Française of Johannesburg and with the support of ILLIS Monaco for the benefit of civil society in the townships of Johannesburg targeting children (under six years old), youth and women.
This initiative is taking place in a context where poverty and unemployment in South African townships have been amplified by the health crisis, which has also reduced the capacity of local associations to help the most vulnerable populations, especially children and girls.
Funding Information
The initiatives selected by the selection committee will receive a subsidy of maximum 10.000€. Once the project is approved, the funds will be disbursed in two instalments
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible civil society organisations as well as public or private entities duly registered in South Africa with a social impact in the townships are invited to submit projects in at least one of the following fields:
- Education
- Child protection
- Vocational training
- Entrepreneurship
- Food security
- Health
- Culture
- Sport
- Your organisation is strongly encouraged to try out for their call for proposals. They are looking for project ideas carried out by young adults involved with children under the age of 6, youth or women.
- The project can address gender gaps, inclusion of people with disabilities, environmental challenges, entrepreneurship and innovation!
- The project can be carried out in partnership with another association. However, you can only submit one project per organisation. Applicant organisations will receive a site visit before the approval of their project.
Selection Criteria
- The assessment criteria will be as follows:
- The project must be in line with government and sectoral policies in South Africa
- The project must take into account the most vulnerable groups (e.g., populations facing poverty, school drop-out, unemployment, disability, conflict situations, violence, etc.).
- The project must be relevant: the activities presented must be consistent with the objectives of the project in the context of implementation.
- The description of the project, its objectives, activities and budget will be clear and precise.
- The project will ensure that local stakeholders are involved in the implementation of the activities.
- The project’s activities cannot be linked to religious proselytizing or political propaganda.
