The UN Women Bangladesh seeks to partner with a national, women-led/women’s rights civil society organization, to implement an initiative entitled “Strengthening capacity of women’s rights and civil society organizations in Bangladesh to localize the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda”.
UN Women in Bangladesh supports the government in implementing commitments to international normative standards on gender equality and women’s human rights. In line with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2022-2026, the corresponding UN Women Bangladesh Strategic Note (2022-2026) defines UN Women’s strategic engagement in Bangladesh.
The country strategy focuses on strengthening the national structures and mechanisms for gender mainstreaming in policies, plans and budgets; supporting efforts to prevent and eliminate violence against women; promoting women’s access to decent and safe work; promoting policies and government investment in women’s empowerment and resilience building in the context of climate change, humanitarian crisis as well as other threats to peace and security. UN Women works with a range of stakeholders in Bangladesh, including the government, civil society and women’s organizations, youth, UN agencies and donors, to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Funding Information
- The project budget ranges from BDT 8,800,000 – 9,075,000.
Competencies
- Proposals can only be submitted by non-governmental organizations duly registered in Bangladesh.
- The proponent should have been in operation for minimum 10 years on the area of gender equality and women’s empowerment
- Technical/functional competencies required
- Demonstrate technical competencies in the area (or areas) where the applicant is applying:
- Proven technical competencies in women peace and security, social cohesion, and prevention of violent extremism
- Demonstrated experience in implementing programmes on gender equality and women’s empowerment, with a particular focus on women, peace and security (minimum 5 years relevant experience on WPS), and in formulating result-oriented programmes, monitoring programmes based on indicators and quality reporting using results-based principles.
- Proven organizational experience in building Strategic Partnerships that promote sustainability with women-led organisations, CSOs, government agencies and other non-traditional partners. In particular, demonstrated experience in working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, and other key ministries under the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Group for NAP WPS implementation.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with women and girls who are economically, politically, socially, culturally, or otherwise excluded, marginalized, and/or disempowered.
- Demonstrate technical competencies in the area (or areas) where the applicant is applying:
- Other competencies, which, while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services:
- Demonstrated experience in applying Rights-based approaches to advance women’s political empowerment and ensuring the voices and needs of women as rights-holders are heard.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting the implementation of national action plans or national coordination mechanisms with multiple stakeholders
