Comic Relief’s Common Ground Initiative Women and Girls’ Rights: Innovation Fund

Startup North-East Virtual Incubation Program - Nigeria

Deadline: 3 October 2016

Comic Relief is seeking applications for its Innovation Fund with an aim to work which addresses the rights of young women in sub-Saharan Africa. It wants to support innovative and creative campaigning, convening, skills building, inter-generational dialogues, and the use of new and existing digital and mobile technologies.

The Women and Girls’ Rights: Innovation Fund is co-funded by Comic Relief and the Department for International Development (DFID) through the Common Ground Initiative.

The lives of women and girls are most likely to change in a sustainable way if they can represent and manage their own agendas for change, and organize and represent themselves. Young women’s voices are often not heard in development discussions, despite them having much to bring to the table. They can bring unique perspectives on, and understanding of, the issues faced by young women, and develop new solutions to address these issues.
