The Queensland Government has announced the applications for the Community Partnership Innovation Grants to engage local communities, businesses and organisations to support the trial of new ideas and projects that address youth offending and related issues in the priority areas of:
- Brisbane
- Logan
- Cairns
- Townsville
- Moreton Bay
- Ipswich
- Gold Coast
Purpose
The purpose of the 2021–22 Community Partnership Innovation Grants is:
- To better understand the issues specific to a location and how communities would like to act to reduce youth offending in their area to improve community safety.
- To encourage and support Queensland communities to build on their experience, knowledge and social eco-systems.
- Contribute to achieving positive outcomes for young people involved in the Queensland youth justice system, those at risk of entering the system, their families and broader community.
Funding objectives: A key objective of providing grant funding to is to encourage new approaches to service delivery and interventions not previously funded or delivered in Queensland.
Funding Information
A total of $1,400,000 (GST exclusive) is available in 2021–22 financial year. One-off grants from $20,000 to $250,000 (GST exclusive) will be available for successful applications.
What they are looking for?
An ideal community proposal:
- is for young people who are, or are becoming, high-risk offenders
- supports a young person to change their anti-social attitudes and behaviour
- values community knowledge
- complements the existing local services system
- uses restorative practice
- connects a young person with community
- operates when young people who are offending are most active – during school hours, evenings, and weekends
- turns theoretical inquiry into practice
- has broad community support
- includes indicators of success that can be monitored and reported
- addresses the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the youth justice system
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants can be a single organisation or individual, joint partners, or combined organisations.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisations and Indigenous businesses are encouraged to apply.
- Nomination of a lead organisation or agency is required for joint and combined applications. The lead agency will need to be legally accountable for the activity and grant expenditure. The Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs will enter into a service agreement with the nominated lead agency. Applicants must:
- be an incorporated not-for-profit, registered business or legal entity; or
- have an auspice agreement with any of the above entities.
- Eligible organisations and associations must:
- have a registered and current Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN) and be registered for GST
- have experience in delivering services in Queensland
- hold public liability insurance to the value of not less than $10 million, or provide evidence of plans to obtain insurance to the value of not less than $10 million to cover the proposed project
- have no overdue reports, or service delivery or performance issues for funding previously or currently provided by the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs
