The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is accepting applications for Comprehensive humanitarian response to emergencies caused by armed conflict and climate variability in the department of Chocó.
The services are aimed at responding to the most urgent needs of children and families affected by emergencies, which includes a set of humanitarian services to respond to the most critical needs in the first weeks of the emergency, which must be defined in line with situation analysis exercises and the response coordination frameworks established by local and national authorities, in coordination with humanitarian coordination structures in the territory. This exercise will be carried out in close coordination with UNICEF, using the rapid needs analysis tool.

Expected Outcomes
- Education:
- 2,000 children and adolescents access temporary formal education services or are reintegrated into regular education.
- 600 children and adolescents receive educational materials to support classroom learning recovery activities.
- 120 teachers and educational workers receive training and technical assistance in quality, relevant, and flexible pedagogical approaches to guarantee the right to education in emergency contexts.
- Protection:
- 1,000 children, adolescents, and their families have access to psychosocial support to mitigate the impacts of the armed conflict.
- 500 children, adolescents, and their families have access to GBV prevention and/or response interventions (training and awareness-raising sessions).
- 600 children, adolescents, and their families identified through the implementation of community, school, and institutional mechanisms have access to violence response services.
- 500 children and adolescents and 200 adults will develop self-care skills to mitigate the risks caused by explosive devices.
- 1,000 children and young people reached through UNICEF-supported awareness-raising activities and community mobilization interventions on PEAS.
- Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene:
- 500 children and families have access to safe drinking water in safe, separate, and well-lit spaces designated for the care of affected populations: shelters, educational facilities, and community spaces, with a focus on gender, ethnicity, disability, and life cycle considerations.
- 1,000 people participate in actions to promote key hygiene practices, including menstrual hygiene, and the provision of essential hygiene items to prevent waterborne and sanitation-related diseases.
- Sanitation services adapted and/or rehabilitated, especially in temporary shelters, learning spaces, and reception centers.
- Health and Nutrition:
- 200 children under 5 years of age and 120 pregnant women receive access to comprehensive health and nutrition services. These services focus on treating malnutrition and infectious and parasitic diseases that contribute to nutritional deterioration.
- 300 children, adolescents, caregivers, community leaders, and professionals receive support to develop emotional management skills (Mental Health).
- Cross-Cutting Areas. Accountability:
- 200 people participate in feedback mechanisms. Emergency-related information is managed and analyzed in a timely manner to highlight key data on the situation of children and adolescents. Emergency Response Preparedness: 120 frontline professionals are trained in emergency preparedness and response.
