The Trust for London, in partnership with City Bridge Trust, is pleased to launch a new Disability Justice Fund to contribute to the foundations for a strong, vibrant, diverse and sustainable movement for social justice for Deaf and Disabled Londoners.
The Fund aims to contribute to the foundations for a strong, vibrant, diverse and sustainable movement for social justice for Disabled Londoners who are more likely to be living in poverty.
It will do this by supporting Deaf and Disabled people’s organisations (DDPOs) to become more effective, more powerful, more inclusive, more influential and more sustainable.

Funding Information
- For larger grants: They are open to considering each request on a case-by-case basis. They anticipate that most large grants are unlikely to exceed £120,000 in total. You will have an opportunity to discuss your plans with a grants manager prior to making an application.
- For small grants: They will consider grants of up to £15,000.
Eligible Activities
- Examples of work we are interested in funding include:
- Establishment of representative voices in areas of London where Deaf and Disabled People are not heard and/or are not organised or represented.
- Work that engages young people and develops the next generation of diverse leaders to ensure a thriving and sustained disability movement in London.
- Campaigns and policy advocacy work developed in response to evidence from frontline services.
- DDPOs coming together to develop joint responses to cross-borough and sub-regional issues impacting on Deaf and Disabled people
- Emerging activism and engagement of historically excluded and marginalised groups of Disabled people
They will be looking to fund work
- That strengthens the capacity of DDPOs to engage in campaigning, policy, advocacy and generally mobilise for change, and
- Which contributes to growing, broadening, and diversifying the disability sector
Outcomes
- In particular, the Disability Justice Fund will support work that contributes to achieving the following outcomes:
- DDPOs are more reflective of their communities and more able to build activism and leadership in their communities
- DDPOs are more effective campaigners, advocates and facilitators of Deaf/
- Disabled people’s rights, inclusion and justice
- DDPOs working in more collective, connected, and collaborative ways
- Increasing leadership of seldom heard groups of Deaf/Disabled people including those at the intersections with other systems of oppression
Eligibility Criteria
- The Fund will consider applications from groups and organisations that:
- Meet the definition of a ‘Deaf and Disabled people’s organisation’ as provided by Inclusion London. This means:
- Your management committee/ board has at least 75% representation from Deaf or Disabled People at least 50% of your paid staff team are Deaf or Disabled people with representation at all levels of the organization
- You provide services for, or work on behalf of, Deaf and Disabled people
- Meet the definition of a ‘Deaf and Disabled people’s organisation’ as provided by Inclusion London. This means:
- Carry out work which benefits people who live in London
- Have a bank account with two unrelated signatories
- Have at least three trustees or directors
- Have a written constitution. We will consider applications from these types of organisations:
- Trusts
- Unincorporated Associations
- Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
- Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) which may also be registered as a charity or a Community Interest Company Limited by Guarantee.
- Companies and CICs must have at least one unpaid independent director or an Independent Board with knowledge of and skills to scrutinise the organisation’s finances.
- If you are applying for core funding, you need to be a registered charity.
