Deadline: 31-Mar-24
The Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council (DVSC) is looking to fund short-term projects which increase the numeracy confidence and abilities of adults aged 19+ across Denbighshire.
Multiply, which is part of the wider UK Shared Prosperity Fund, is a £559 million programme across the UK, put in place to help transform the lives of adults, by improving their functional numeracy skills through free personal tutoring, digital training, and flexible courses.
Funding Information
- In total, DVSC has approximately £338,000 to disseminate with one single deadline. There is no ‘Round Two’ for Multiply. They anticipate receiving many more applications than monies available.
- You can apply for a grant of between £20,000 and £50,000. Funding must be completely spent by 31st October 2024.
Examples of Possible Projects
- Possible projects might be similar to this:
- A community-based cooking course over 6 weeks which looks at the costs of the ingredients, budgeting for the week, measuring ingredients, calculating oven temperatures and portion sizes.
- Breakfast Bingo which provides a breakfast meal to adults whilst playing bingo. Answers to basic maths questions provide the number they can circle on their bingo card. Measurements are taken before and after to measure participants’ confidence levels with basic maths skills. Participants also helped to enrol on further maths courses at their local college.
- Pottery and Play sessions aimed at parents who improve their maths skills whilst engaging in fun pottery activities with their young child.
Types of Activities Funded
- Projects must meet the following Multiply national intervention:
- W53: Activities, courses or provision, aimed at engaging the hardest to reach learners – for example, those not in the labour market or other groups identified locally as in need.
- The UK Government is also interested in understanding the Learner Progress of each participant, i.e. the DIFFERENCE made to a learner’s CONFIDENCE. They will therefore be interested in knowing how you will effectively measure this during your intervention.
Eligibility Criteria
- DVSC is able to award Multiply grants to third sector organisations working in Denbighshire. They will favour organisations based in Denbighshire. Key Fund grantholders are eligible to apply.
- They are looking for SHORT-TERM PROJECTS (deliverable by 31st October 2024) which deliver appropriate numeracy skills learning activities to adults aged 19 or older, who do not hold a Maths GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Individuals engaged might already be working towards a maths qualification, need or want to improve their maths skills for their work, or simply want to improve their overall maths abilities.
- They are not seeking formal partnership applications.
