The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) of the Embassy of Canada has announced a call for proposals for its Syria programme.
The CFLI funds small but visible, results-oriented projects which are proposed and implemented by officially registered local NGOs in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan.
Funding Information
- The CFLI will provide support to small scale, high impact projects within a budget range of up to a maximum of CAD $40,000.
- Project Duration: Until February 15, 2020
Types of Project
- Projects must address the identified needs of local communities and must fall within one of the 2019-2020 CFLI priorities:
- Emphasis will be placed on innovative, accountable and sustainable projects. Initiatives aimed at producing concrete results will be prioritized over sensitization workshops and training sessions with limited audiences. Projects with a concrete social media strategy will be prioritized.
- The Canada Fund only provides contributions for project related expenses covered by a contribution agreement. The Canada Fund does not cover over-head costs such as those related to the administration of an organization, ongoing or recurring projects, large-scale construction, or general budgetary needs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Registered local non-governmental, community and not-for-profit organizations;
- Local academic institutions working on local projects.
- Projects located in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey.
Applications will be assessed by mid-May for approval on their merits by a Project Review Committee. Final selection of projects will be made by the Executive Coordinator for Syria. Implementation could start in June/July 2019.
