The Embassy of Japan to Kosovo has announced the “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)” scheme to support projects proposed by various bodies such as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and local government authorities.

This grant aid instrument provides support to relatively small projects in Basic Human Needs (BHN) sectors at the grassroots level. It has received a worldwide reputation for the provision of timely assistance. Through this instrument, Japan has provided seamless assistance ranging from humanitarian aid that provides support to communities for their immediate basic human needs to community and nation-building in post-conflict areas.

The Grant Assistance for Grass Roots and Human Security Projects (GGP) was first introduced by the Government of Japan in 1989 in order to meet various socio-economic needs in developing countries. The GGP provides nonrefundable financial assistance to NGOs, hospitals, primary schools, and other nonprofit association to help implement their development projects.
