The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for “European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR): Country-Based Support Scheme for Georgia”.
The overall objective of this call for proposals is to support civil society in Georgia in its actions supporting the protection and promotion of human rights, so as to promote principles laid down in EU Human Rights guidelines and in the EU’s Strategic Framework and Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy .
Objectives
- Promotion and protection of social, health, labour, cultural and economic rights (including income generation activities) of citizens including vulnerable groups and conflict affected population as well as their rights to equal opportunities and integration in society;
- Promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment through support to their economic, social, cultural, civic and political rights;
- Promotion of economic, social, cultural, civic and political rights of minority groups (ethnic, religious, sexual).
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 250,000 and EUR 400,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or Georgia and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary and
- have been registered for at least three years at the time of the submission of an application and
- all applicants (Georgian and non-Georgian) must have at least three years’ of relevant experience in the human rights field covered by this Call for Proposals at the time of the submission of an application.
- non-Georgian NGOs must have at least three years’ experience of working in Georgia at the time of the submission of an application.
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) are not in any of these situations.
- The lead applicant must act with co-applicant(s) as specified hereafter.
- If awarded the grant contract, the lead applicant will become the beneficiary identified as the Coordinator. The Coordinator is the main interlocutor of the Contracting Authority. It represents and acts on behalf of any other co-beneficiary (if any) and coordinate the design and implementation of the action.
