The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organizations for a programme entitled “European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) Country-based Support Scheme Kenya” with an aim to contribute to the protection and promotion of human rights in Kenya.
Objectives
- Increased respect of international Human Rights standards by law enforcement and security forces
- Abolition of the death penalty
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 350.000,00 and EUR 415.000,00.
Location
Actions must take place in Kenya
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 18 months nor exceed 36 months.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- Indicate the relevant criteria with due regard for the objectives and priorities of this call for proposals, complying with the principles of transparency and non-discrimination.
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- belong to one of the following bodies as defined in Article 11 of Regulation No 236/2014:
- Civil society organisations, including non-governmental organisations and independent political foundations and private sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level
- public-sector non profit-agencies, institutions and organisations and networks at local, national, regional and international level;
- international and regional inter-governmental organisations; and
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or any other country.
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) are not in any of these situations.
- If the lead applicant is Kenyan it may act individually or with co-applicant(s) of any nationality.
- If the lead applicant is not Kenyan, or is an international organisation, it must act with one or more co-applicant(s) of which at least one co-applicant must be Kenyan.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
