The European Union is seeking proposals from organisations for a thematic programme entitled “Engagement with Civil Society in Japan on Fundamental Rights” with an aim to promote awareness of the criminal justice system in relation to the death penalty in Japan in line with regional and international trends.
Priority Areas
- It addresses major global challenges such as energy security, climate change and environmental protection.
- It supports the implementation of the external dimension of EU internal policies and of the Europe 2020 Strategy.
- It covers specific aspects of the EU’s economic diplomacy by improving access to third-countries markets through trade, investment and business opportunities.
- It supports public diplomacy activities, including academic and think tank cooperation as well as outreach activities to promote the Union’s vision and principles.
Location
Actions must take place in Japan.
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 24 months nor exceed 36 months.
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 140 000.00 to EUR 150 000.00
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person
- be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation,
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or in Japan
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary and
- Can demonstrate having worked in Japan on matters relating to the promotion of the elimination of the death penalty and/or the reform of the criminal justice system.
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations.
- Co-applicants participate in designing and implementing the action, and the costs they incur are eligible in the same way as those incurred by the lead applicant.
- Co-applicants must satisfy the eligibility criteria as applicable to the lead applicant.
