EU: Civil Society Organisations as Actors of Governance and Development

The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for a program entitled “Civil Society Organisations as Actors of Governance and Development” to deliver good governance and accountability, social cohesion and a transformed economy for the wellbeing of all Gambians.

Types of Lot

Priorities Area

  1. Lot 1: To increase the participation of CSOs in tackling climate change and promoting environmental sustainability, with a focus on labour intensive works
    • Support the implementation of policies relating to the sustainable management of natural resources and ecosystems and sustainable consumption and production, thereby enabling the transition to a green economy.
    • Promote structured dialogue between government, private sector and CSOs, particularly those representing women and youth, on climate change, environmental sustainability, green growth
    • Promote the participation of women and youth in the green economy, in particular in eco restoration and as agents of environmental protection
    • Support advocacy groups’ involvement in policy development and implementation of national/ local development strategies to mainstream climate change and environmental sustainability, including management of natural resources and ecosystems and sustainable consumption and production
    • Support exchanges of information and expertise to promote mutual learning and networks to increase understanding of climate change, environmental sustainability and the green economy
  2. Lot 2: To support cultural, creative and sports industries outside of the Greater Banjul Area as engines for social and economic development to foster job creation and mitigate migration
    • Strengthen the contribution of the cultural, creative and sport industries to the employability of young people and women e.g. skills development or job creation.
    • Strengthen women’s voice and participation in cultural, creative and sport industries
    • Support the creation, refurbishment or expansion of cultural, creative or sports facilities, ensuring they cater to both men and women;
    • Build linkages between cultural, creative and sports industries, SMEs and tourism.
