The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for a programme entitled “Grant Scheme for Implementation of Projects for Increasing the Competitiveness of the Beneficiary Country” with an aim to encourage the activity of the various actors in the society different than the Government in order to influence the country’s economy competitiveness.
The specific objective is to increase the capacity and awareness of various actors and stakeholders other than the government sector in term of increased competitiveness of the country’s economy as well as to strengthen their role in the design and implementation of the national strategic documents on competitiveness.
The programme is divided into three lots:
- Lot 1: Supporting networking and value chain supply among domestic SMEs and multinational companies matching in line with the key competitiveness reforms in the country-EUR 500.000
- Lot 2: Improvement of the business climate; public private dialogue; entrepreneurial awareness; SMEs development including access to finance, human capital development and matching on the labour market-EUR 600.000
- Lot 3: Improvement of the SMEs’ innovation and R&D capacities, cooperation between associations, companies and the universities and institutes-EUR 600.000
Size of grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between € 60.000 and € 200.000.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person (individuals are not eligible, nor are informal alliances or initiatives without legal status) registered at least two years before the call is launched.
- be non-profit-making
- be a specific type of organisation such as: civil society organisations i.e. organizations considered as non-state, non-profit making actors operating on an independent and accountable basis. They include: non-governmental organisations, sector-oriented trade association, chamber of commerce, business intermediary organisation, sectoral business promotion council, universities or any other non-governmental associations or independent foundations,and
- be established in the Beneficiary Country or a in Member State of the European Union or countries that are beneficiaries of the IPA instrument and
- be able to demonstrate their experience and capacity to manage activities corresponding in scale and complexity with those for which a grant is requested (for example an experience in the following fields: business climate, economic development, competiveness of the economy or business entities, SME`s development, education or training of the business entities and their employees, R&D or innovation, green economy and/or sustainable development.)
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the coapplicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity (ies) are not in any of these situations.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
