The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for a program entitled “EU ICSP- support to in-country civil society actors in conflict prevention, peace-building and crisis preparedness” to support initiatives aimed at building sustainable in-country capacities in Kenya for effective conflict management, peacebuilding and crisis preparedness.
The programme is divided into two lots:
- Lot 1: Youth affected by conflicts / Young people as agents for peace
- Lot 2: Women Peace and Security
Objectives
- Strengthening institutional and operational capacity of civil society actors with regard to the two lots;
- Improving in-country civil society actors networking and advocacy skills, including increased civil society involvement in the two lots relating to both long-term and short-term conflict prevention and peace-building;
- Establishing or enhancing dialogue between civil society actors and local, national, regional or international institutions on subjects related to the two lots.
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 500,000 and EUR 2,000,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person
- be non-profit-making
- be a Civil Society actor constituted in accordance with the legislation in force in the applicant’s country of registration
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or any other country
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
- have at least four years of presence in East Africa
- have proven competence in the objectives of the call for proposals as demonstrated through a portfolio of comparable projects.
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) are not in any of these situations.
- The lead applicant must act with co-applicant(s) as specified hereafter.
- If awarded the grant contract, the lead applicant will become the beneficiary identified as the Coordinator. The Coordinator is the main interlocutor of the Contracting Authority. It represents and acts on behalf of any other co-beneficiary (if any) and coordinate the design and implementation of the action.
- Co-applicants are obligatory. The minimum recommended number of co-applicants to be involved in the action is one Kenya-registered co-applicant.
- Co-applicants participate in designing and implementing the action, and the costs they incur are eligible in the same way as those incurred by the lead applicant.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
