The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organizations for a program entitled “Implementation of ZEAT BEAD Component 2 Sustainable supply of agriculture and livestock inputs and services through the private sector” with an aim to improve food security and income for rural small holders of South Sudan.
The programme is divided into four lots:
- Lot 1: Former Lakes State € 3.000.000
- Lot 2: Former Warrap State € 3.000.000
- Lot 3: Former Northen Bahal el Gazar State € 3.000.000
- Lot 4: Former Western Bahal el Gazar State € 2.500.000
Priorities
- Enhance food production capacities by better access to inputs (seed and tools locally produced) and services (community extension/agents);
- Strengthening community based extension services, this shall promote: the use of good practices (including animal traction), postharvest losses reduction, sustainable value chains and marketing;
- Promote local inputs production (seeds and tools) to be locally marketed;
- Increase livelihoods / work opportunities in the target communities
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this Call for Proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- For lot 1, 2 and 3
- minimum amount: € 2.400.000
- maximum amount: € 3.000.000
- For lot 4
- minimum amount: € 2.000.000
- maximum amount: € 2.500.000
Location
Actions must take place in the Graeter Bahal el Gazar States, South Sudan.
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 33 months nor exceed 36 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be non-governmental organisation, and
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or in an official candidate country as recognized by the European Union, or in a Member State of the European Economic Area, or in ACP state, or in a least developed country according to the UN, or in a developing country as specified by the OECD/DAC, or in any country where reciprocal access to their external assistance has been established (reciprocal access in the least developed countries as defined by OECD/DAC shall be automatically granted to OECD/DAC members), and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) are not in any of these situations.
- The lead applicant must act with co-applicant(s) as specified hereafter.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application
