The European Commission is seeking proposals for “European Solidarity Corps” to foster solidarity in the European society, engaging young people and organisations in accessible and high-quality solidarity activities.
It offers young people opportunities to show solidarity, express their commitment to the benefit of communities and help resolve challenging situations across Europe. At the same time, these young people have the opportunity to develop their skills and get some invaluable human experience in the process.
The European Solidarity Corps is the new European Union initiative which creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad that benefit communities and people around Europe.
Budget and duration of Projects
- The total budget earmarked for this call for proposals is estimated at EUR 44 241 725.
- The total budget earmarked for the call for proposals as well as its repartition are indicative and are based on:
- EUR 30 339 725 for the European Solidarity Corps Programme for the year 2018,
- Additional amounts from other EU Programmes contributing to solidarity activities:
- EUR 11 102 000 from the European Social Fund,
- EUR 1 800 000 from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development,
- EUR 1 000 000 from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
- The total budget is subject to the adoption of the 2018 Annual work programmes for the European Social Fund and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

This call for proposals covers the following actions of the European Solidarity Corps:

Eligibility Criteria
- Any public or private body may apply for funding within the European Solidarity Corps. In addition, groups of young people registered in the European Solidarity Corps Portal, may apply for funding for Solidarity Projects.
- The European Solidarity Corps is open to the participation of the following countries:
- The 28 Member States of the European Union can fully take part in all European Solidarity Corps actions.
- In addition, certain European Solidarity Corps actions are open to the participation of organisations from:
- EFTA/EEA countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway,
- EU candidate countries: Turkey and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia,
- Partner countries.

- For British applicants: Please be aware that eligibility criteria must be complied with for the entire duration of the grant. If the United Kingdom withdraws from the EU during the grant period without concluding an agreement with the EU ensuring in particular that British applicants continue to be eligible, applicants will cease to receive EU funding (while continuing, where possible, to participate) or be required to leave the project on the basis of the relevant provisions of the grant agreement on termination.
