The European Commission , through its representation in Denmark, initiates a call for proposals to lead the EUROPE DIRECT centers in the period 2021 – 2025 with a view to selecting partners.
EUROPE DIRECT engages in a proactive and ongoing dialogue with citizens to give them greater co-responsibility for the European project. By organizing information and involvement activities, EUROPE DIRECT enables citizens to make informed choices about the future of the European Union (EU), in which they participate fully in the European democratic process.
EUROPE DIRECT is also responsive to citizens’ expectations and makes it possible to provide feedback to the EU institutions. EUROPE DIRECT works closely with the Europe Commission Representations and with the Liaison Offices of the European Parliament in the various Member States. They also strive to cooperate with other EU networks and local contact points, including relevant local networks (where they exist), and promote and coordinate exchanges between them.
Core Tasks
EUROPE DIRECT must perform the following tasks:
- Task 1:Information and involvement of citizens: EUROPE DIRECT addresses the public on EU issues by organization of information and involvement activities such as events, workshops, citizen dialogues and any form of offline or online interaction.
- Task 2: Connections with local media and information communicators: EUROPE DIRECT establishes regular contacts and strives to enter into agreements strong partnerships with local media and information providers such as:
- the local press and local journalists
- local TV channels and TV newsrooms
- local radio channels and broad casters
- influencers on social media who are active in a particular region ordeals with issues considered sensitive for the region concerned
- bloggers and vloggers who are active or engaged in a particular region issues considered sensitive for the region concerned
- other local information communicators or opinion makers.
- Task 3: Knowledge of sensitive EU issues at local level: EUROPE DIRECT draws the Europe Commission’s representations to serious concerns and local attitudes to EU policies or concrete projects, such as may adversely affect local public opinion about the EU. Among other things, be distorted or incorrect information about the EU, which has a particular local angle (ie stands out from the rest of the country), and which gives rise to such concerns.
- Task 4: The EU in schools: The EUROPE DIRECT centers connect to schools in their catchment area and disseminates official educational material on the EU, e.g. what is found in Student and teacher’s corner, which is Parliament’s website on education and learning, and otherofficial material prepared by the EU institutions.
- Task 5: Promoting a regional network of networks: EUROPE DIRECT provides a clear overview of the presence and work of the EU other outreach networks or information networks in the region, area orthe catchment area they cover.
Funding Information
- The individual annual grant for the years 2022-2025 will be EUR 45600.
- The individual grant for the year 2021 will be EUR 30400.
Eligibility Criteria
The following applicants may submit proposals:
- Public bodies such as municipal or other local or regional authorities or associations of locals authorities, NGOs, social partners, educational bodies.
