The Family Safety Victoria (FSV) invites applicants from across Australia to apply for the Family Violence Research Grants Program to develop and build the evidence base to support family violence reform in Victoria.
Research will be used to support practice improvement, service innovation, better policy outcomes and long-lasting change for both victim survivors and those who use violence.
Priorities
- Children and young people as victim survivors in their own right.
- Family violence as experienced by Aboriginal people and communities.
- Family violence as experienced by people from diverse communities.
- Sexual violence and harm.
- Adolescent family violence.
- Perpetrators and people who use violence.
- System lens research topics.
Funding Information
Grants will be offered in three funding ranges, with differing eligibility and selection requirements attached to the value ranges:
- Small-scale grants – maximum budget of $75,000, with a timeframe for completion of up to one year.
- Medium-scale grants – maximum budget of $200,000, with one to 1.5 years to complete.
- Large-scale grants – maximum budget of $300,000, with two years to complete.
Please note: Maximum budget limits and timeframes for project completion cannot be changed and will not be negotiated.
Eligible Projects
All the following types of research are eligible:
- Systematic literature and evidence reviews.
- Secondary reviews and analysis using existing data.
- Research projects involving any form of primary research.
- Research projects using active participant methodologies.
- Research projects using quantitative methods.
- Research using a mixed methods approach.
Ineligible Projects
The following research is not eligible for grants:
- Evaluations of existing or planned programs.
- Research focused on the area of primary prevention.
- Research not based on Victorian populations, analysis of Victorian data nor conducted in Victoria.
Eligibility Criteria
- The department is not able to enter into a funding agreement with individuals. Applicants must belong to an eligible Australian-based organization. Sole traders are ineligible to apply.
- Only Australian based organizations are eligible for the research grants.
- This includes not-for-profit entities, Australian universities or research centres.
- A not-for-profit entity must show the organization is registered:
- With the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
- With Consumer Affairs Victoria as an incorporated association.
- Under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) or the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 (Vic).
