GEM: Small Grants Programme Summer 2022

Impact Grant Program for Underfunded Grassroots Organizations: Unrestricted Grants of €25,000

Deadline: 26-Jun-22

The Gender Equality and Macroeconomics (GEM) team at the Bretton Woods project calls for proposals from Global South women’s rights and economic justice organisations who are seeking financial support for programming and advocacy activities that contribute to addressing the ways in which macroeconomic policies promoted by international financial institutions (IFIs) undermine women’s rights and gender equality.

The Gender Equality and Macroeconomics (GEM) project at BWP challenges the ways in which macroeconomic policies currently promoted by international financial institutions (IFIs) – in particular the IMF and World Bank – undermine gender equality and women’s rights. To change this, the project critically examines the gendered implications of current fiscal, monetary, investment, and labour market policy, engages in direct advocacy with the IFIs, and works to support a wide range of civil society groups and organisations towards building an enabling macroeconomic environment for women’s rights and gender equality.

With a budget of $35,000, they are able to offer a limited number of organisations grants. They will support projects that align with the aims of the GEM project, and particularly encourage women’s rights organisations to apply. They will prioritise funding smaller organisations who might have less access to mainstream sources of funding.
