Global Forest Watch (GFW) has launched the 2017 call for proposals for Small Grants Fund to support non-governmental organizations by providing financial and technical support to optimize their use of GFW tools and data for better forest monitoring and management.
The Small Grants Fund seeks to promote uptake of Global Forest Watch by civil society organizations to use in their research, advocacy, and fieldwork.
Small Grants Fund projects include:
- Forest Management, Monitoring and Law Enforcement
- Advocacy / Campaigning
- Journalism and Storytelling
Funding Information
- The SGF awards organizations between $10,000 and $40,000 USD
- The number of projects awarded can range from 8-15, with 12 being the average
- Trainings and technical assistance are provided throughout the project implementation period, which will run from June 2017 – March 2018.
Eligibility Criteria
Organization Eligibility
In order to be eligible, organizations must:
- Be legally constituted as non-profit and non-governmental;
- Have a total annual budget greater than $30,000 USD;
- Possess a computerized financial system for tracking and recording expenses;
- Submit annual independent audits for a minimum of 1 and up to a maximum of 3 years that do not report findings or weaknesses in internal controls.
- Be able to complete an organizational assessment document (containing questions regarding organization governance, financial and compliance structure) in fluent English.
- Receive a rating of medium to low risk on WRI’s organizational assessment, to be carried out once finalists are selected.
