The Human Rights House Yerevan launches a call for applications in the scope of the “Support to individual human rights defenders and human rights organizations from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus” project for human rights defenders and human rights organizations who moved from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus to Armenia (operating in Armenia) and need assistance and support.
The project is aimed at providing assistance to human rights defenders, human rights organizations, journalists, and media organizations who have relocated to the Republic of Armenia as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war and require support in adapting to the new realities and organizing their human rights activism in Armenia.
Individual human rights defenders and human rights organizations from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, residing (carrying out activities) in Armenia can apply for the grants.
The grants provided are:
- Emergency grants
- Funding can be utilized to cover expenses such as:
- Accommodation costs
- Per-diems
- Psychological support
- Legal supprt
- Visa assistance and related costs.
- Funding can be utilized to cover expenses such as:
- Capacity building grants
- These grants should be focused on developing one or more of the following capacities, but not limited to them:
- Fundraising
- Campaigns and advocacy
- Online (digital) security
- Strategic planning
- Finances and management
- Communication
- Human resources management.
- These grants should be focused on developing one or more of the following capacities, but not limited to them:
- Grants for advocacy campaigns.
- These grants specifically should target disinformation related to the Russian-Ukrainian war, its repercussions, and related issues.
- Priority will be given to individual human rights defenders and human rights organizations that have not previously received support from this source.
- Applications from political and religious organizations will not be considered. Emergency grants can be provided for a maximum of 6 months, whereas the grants for capacity building and advocacy campaigns can be provided for a maximum of 12 months.
Funding Information
- Emergency Grants – up to 1,500 Euros.
- Capacity building grants of up to €5,000.
- Grants for advocacy campaigns of up to 4,000 Euros.
Eligibility Criteria
- Emergency grants are offered to individual human rights defenders, activists, journalists, and representatives of civil society organizations (their family members)from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus who have resided in the Republic of Armenia and who are in immediate need of financial, psychological, or other urgent support provided in the scope of the project to adapt to the new realities and effectively organize their work in the Republic of Armenia.
- Grants for capacity building and advocacy campaigns are offered to individual human rights defenders and human rights organizations from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus residing or operating in the Republic of Armenia to develop necessary skills to continue their human rights work in the new realities (including, registering a legal entity in the Republic of Armenia) and to conduct advocacy campaigns aimed at countering disinformation.
