Grants for Human Rights, Democracy and Civil Society Organizations (Guinea)

The European Commission (EC) is offering grants to Human Rights, Democracy and Civil Society Organizations.

Program Objectives and Priorities 

• This call for proposals consists of two lots.
  • Lot 1
    • The general objective of this lot is to combat stigmatization and discrimination against people with disabilities and/or albinism.
    • The specific objective of this lot is to strengthen associations working for the well-being, rights, inclusion and participation in public life of people with disabilities and/or those with albinism in Guinea.
    • Within the framework of this lot, this call for proposals has the following priorities:
      • Activities aimed at improving the living conditions of people with disabilities and/or those with albinism in Guinea;
      • Capacity building and funding for Guinean associations in order to increase the impact of their actions to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and/or albinism;
      • Capacity building and networking of Guinean associations to ensure the complementarity of their actions with the measures taken by the Guinean authorities and other stakeholders involved in favor of people with disabilities and/or albinism.
      • Support associations for the protection and promotion of the rights of people with disabilities and albinism (training, awareness-raising, income-generating activities, action research) and carrying out awareness-raising campaigns on the rights of people with disabilities or albinism.
  • Lot 2
    • The overall objective of this lot is to strengthen the capacities of Guinean CSOs so that they can engage in political dialogue at the national and local levels and in the implementation and monitoring of development plans and programs.
    • The specific objective of this lot is to strengthen the legitimacy and operational capacities of Guinean civil society organizations while contributing to their structuring, so that they participate effectively, autonomously and sustainably in democratic dialogue, citizen monitoring and the monitoring of public policies, in the context of the political transition and beyond.
    • Within the framework of this lot, this call for proposals has the following priorities:
      • Promotion of existing dialogue frameworks between organizations, as well as promotion of the emergence of new partnerships (platforms, federations, community associations, sectoral alliances, etc.) at national, regional and local levels, with a view to developing joint advocacy actions and citizen monitoring actions of public action by civil society with the Guinean authorities in different priority sectors:
        • Capacity building of Guinean CSOs for
        • Promotion of citizen participation to electoral observation

Funding Information

• The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals amounts to:
  • Lot 1: EUR 450,000
  • Lot 2: EUR 3,133,000
• Amount of subsidies
  • Any grant requested under this call for proposals must be between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
    • Lot 1:
      • minimum amount: EUR 200,000
      • maximum amount: EUR 225,000
    • Lot 2:
      • minimum amount: EUR 200,000
      • maximum amount: EUR 1,200,000

Duration

• Lot 1 and Lot 2:
  • The initial planned duration of an action cannot be less than 36 months nor exceed 48 months.

Eligible Activities

• Types of activity
  • Lot 1:
    • Support for the care of adolescents and adults with disabilities
    • Promoting training for educators and families
    • Actions aimed at encouraging the social, economic and democratic inclusion of people with disabilities;
    • Support for centers managed by civil society organizations;
    • Actions aimed at promoting exchanges between people with disabilities at national and international level;
    • Actions aimed at protecting children with disabilities against the risks of violence;
    • Promotion of medical training associations
  • Lot 2:
    • Civil society dialogue and networking mechanisms at national, regional and local levels;
    • Regular meetings between Guinean CSOs from the same area or working on the same theme;
    • Knowledge sharing activities between organizations.

Eligibility Criteria

• To be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
  • be a legal person and
  • have no profit motive and
  • belong to one of the following categories of organizations: non-governmental organization and
  • be effectively established in a Member State of the European Union or in one of the OECD member countries, or in developing countries and territories
  • be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and the affiliated entity(ies), without acting as an intermediary.
