The U.S. Consulate General Lagos, Public Affairs Section (PAS) is pleased to issue this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for local media capacity development organizations, journalism schools, and professional media associations to submit applications to implement:
- Political Journalism Workshop – a capacity-building program on political reporting for reporters, political editors covering the 2023 election cycle.
- Photojournalism and Videography Workshop for photojournalists and video-journalists working in print, electronic (TV), and digital media (online) organizations.
Program Components
- The grantee will organize two separate programs as part of the implementation of this grant. The first component is a political journalism workshop for 100 reporters and political editors from radio, TV, newspapers, and online media.
- The second component of the program will include a workshop for 50 photojournalists and video journalists on innovative visual storytelling during the electoral cycle.
- Political Journalism Workshop
- The Political Journalism Workshop is a capacity-building program on political reporting that will be organized for reporters and political editors covering the 2023 election cycle in Nigeria.
- Photojournalism and Videography Workshop
- The Photojournalism and Videography Workshop is a capacity-building program organized for photo and video journalists on innovative visual storytelling during the electoral cycle.
- Political Journalism Workshop

- Length of performance period: 12 months
- Number of awards anticipated: 1 award
- Total available funding: Awards may range from a minimum of $35,000 to a maximum of $75,000

Priority Region
- The states of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Imo, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, and Rivers.

- Journalists include reporters, political editors, photojournalists, video-journalists from print, TV, radio, and online media.
