The Community Foundation Northern Ireland announcing the program of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fund for Belfast City Council have opened a fund to support events to take place in local communities across the city over the Platinum Jubilee weekend.
The fund will support constituted community groups within the Belfast City Council local government boundary for:
- The provision of community led event(s) celebration programme(s) which demonstrate appropriate community benefit and/or community input and delivery during the 4-day jubilee bank holiday weekend (2 – 5 June 2022)
- The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee being the central theme of the programme being organised
- Delivery of an inclusive programme that brings individuals together to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and that supports participants to be active and involved in their community in positive ways, building relationships and fostering community spirit.
Priority will be given to:
- Collaborative projects
Funding Information
- Grants ranging from a minimum of £500 up to a maximum of £2,000.
They will not fund
The Community Foundation will not fund organisations or activities which promote causes that are contrary to the purposes. Causes and activities that are contrary to the purposes include, but may not be limited to, those outlined in the investment policy. They will not therefore fund organisations or activities which they determine are linked to the promotion of armaments, alcohol, human rights abuses, tobacco or pornography.
Exclusions for support within this fund also include:
- Beneficiaries outside of Belfast City Council Local Government boundary
- The advancement of religion and/or organisations whose purposes include the advancement of religion. (For those organisations who are ineligible as a result of their purposes, they encourage them to seek a partner organisation who can submit an application for a collaborative project)
- The establishment of endowment of any school or institution providing further education within the meaning of the education and libraries (Northern Ireland) order 1972
- The provision of assistance to any Housing Association within the meaning of the housing (Northern Ireland) order 1976
- Political activity, and any flags and emblems that may be associated with such
- CIC Companies Limited by Shares, or CICs without an asset lock clause. Eligible CICs must have at least three unrelated committee members, and/or the majority of the committee unrelated
- Individuals
- Amounts for gifts and donations
- Reclaimable VAT
- Any activity not being delivered on a not-for-profit basis
- Any fundraising events or activities
- Any activity that could be carried out on a commercial basis
- Ongoing revenue costs
- Schools, except where there is a clear need demonstrated that the project being funded will serve the community and this need is not being met by another organisation
- Any purpose that is adverse to Belfast City Council policy. For example, they do not allow balloon or Chinese lantern releases as they are against the environmental policy
- Any purpose that is adverse to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees
