The London Community Foundation is currently accepting applications for its Greenwich Peninsula Community Fund.
Funded primarily by Knight Dragon, this Fund has been established to support the growing community of Greenwich Peninsula as the area develops.
Themes
- The Fund will provide grants to community projects, voluntary sector organisations or community groups based or operating in the Greenwich Peninsula. Projects will be required to demonstrate social value through:
- Improved access to employment and training opportunities across the Peninsula
- Active participation in the society (civic engagement) and improvement in life skills
- Delivering inclusive health and wellbeing programmes
- Positive impact on the local environment, air pollution is reduced, safeguarding the natural environment, resource efficiency and circular economy solutions
- Projects that create more resilient communities by demonstrating that crime is reduced, vulnerable people are helped to live independently.
- More opportunities for disadvantaged people and those most vulnerable in the community including full time employment opportunities for armed forces veterans, homeless employees, mothers returning to work, survivors of modern slavery employees, young care leavers, rehabilitating offenders, young people who are Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEETs).
- Innovative projects that have a positive social, economic and environmental impact on the community.
Funding Information
- This £1.9 million fund will support the delivery of community projects that will have a positive social, economic, and environmental impact on the local community. The first year of this fund awarded £100,000 to 7 organisations. The funding will be allocated with the support of a grants panel including representatives from Knight Dragon, the Royal Borough of Greenwich and L&Q (another Registered Social Landlord).
- Grants will be between £5,000 to £20,000 for up to 1 year.
Geographical Location
- The Fund will support community projects directly delivered within the Greenwich Peninsula ward boundary. Please note that a charity or organisation does not need to be registered within the Greenwich Peninsula ward to apply for this fund, however the funding spent needs to directly benefits the residents and community of Greenwich Peninsula with 80% of a project’s delivery occurring within the Peninsula.
Who can apply?
- The following not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply:
- Constituted community and resident groups
- Registered charities
- Companies limited by guarantee
- Social enterprises
- Community Interest Companies (CICs) Limited by Guarantee – not CICs Limited by Shares
- Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs)
Who and what isn’t eligible
- The following types of organisation are not eligible:
- Companies limited by Shares (including CIC limited by shares)
- Statutory organisations, such as local authorities
- NHS bodies
- Co-operative Societies
- The grant funds cannot be used for:
- activities that promote religious or political views,
- purely commercial ventures (for profit),
- spending that has already taken place (i.e. retrospective funding),
- individual sponsorship or redistribution of a grant to individuals or other organisations,
- activities where people are excluded on the basis of religion, sexual orientation, gender or ethnicity (unless the issue is group-specific).
- There must be no personal benefit attached to the grant.
- The organisation must not have two years of late submissions to the Charity Commission/Companies House within the last two completed financial years.
- The organisation must not have two years of net current liabilities within the two most recent completed financial years.
- Organisations where Trustees are paid are not eligible unless evidence of approval is provided from the Charity Commission and/or this arrangement is referenced in the governing document.
